Is life really so complicated or is it we who complicate it?
I think we know the answer, but humans are masters of denial. We overwhelm ourselves with the “necessities” of modern life and then try to enjoy what is around us by practicing mindfulness. We know how simple things will make us happy, but we set elusive goals for ourselves. We deny what is in front of our eyes.

This beautiful book, Harmony, by a young author, Apala Banerjee, will make denial harder for all readers. The book is a collection of poems mostly inspired by nature. Later in the book, there are also poems about the war in Ukraine and cacophony.

It presents the world through the eyes of a young person. Its simplicity and purity are striking.
You can tell the words are coming from a young person, and sometimes, we need such a young voice to remind us of the beauty in front of our eyes.

When I was reading the poems, I thought some lines were forced. And the book tries to touch on so many topics at the same time. Some of these topics need a deep technical background. I wish the author had stayed away from those topics.

The book has many pictures as well. These pictures are consistent with the writing. Their beauty is in their simplicity.

This book will not challenge you in a traditional way. It will not give you insights to understand a complex phenomenon. But it will challenge you in what you think about. It will challenge you to think about the beauty of simplicity and purity in nature.

I was also impressed with the editing of the book. It is hard to find a book without any typos. I did not notice any in this book.

I enjoyed reading this book thoroughly. I give it a 5 out of 5. I recommend it to you if you want to take a deep breath and a break from your daily madness and enjoy what life already offers you.

What I like about poetry is its ability to capture my mind and bring me on a journey of mindfulness. Poetry about the simplicity and beauty of nature is a good tonic for the mind. Thank you for reading and reviewing this book.

I generally enjoy poetry books and it sounds like this one is worthwhile despite some of the drawbacks that you mentioned. I will keep this book in mind as I decide on my next read.

I cannot edit my review. I should have mentioned that this is a good book to read with young children, as well. My sons have grown out of that, unfortunately. And it is too early for the next generation.
