O Persaud's Shitolian is a masterful collection of poetry that showcases an array of unique styles and themes. With over 50 poems divided into four categories, the book explores the weighty topics of racism, slavery, propaganda, and punctuations. Persaud's use of metaphor is particularly striking in the first section, where he employs the symbolism of a drinking fountain to convey the message of segregation. He expertly communicates the message that although the water may flow through the same pipe, the societal divides are evident in the different types of water.

Throughout the book, Persaud's writing is infused with emotional depth, with each poem expertly crafted to provoke thought and stir emotions. The poem titled "Happiness" is a standout piece that tugs at the heartstrings, revealing Persaud's skill in weaving words together to create a phrase that lingers in the reader's mind.

Despite a few challenging words, Persaud's work remains highly accessible and thought-provoking. I applaud the author for tackling difficult and sensitive issues in such an eloquent manner, and the book accomplishes its goal of conveying a much-needed message to readers. Persaud's unique writing style encourages the reader to question the meaning behind his words, resulting in a memorable and deeply satisfying reading experience.

One of the most notable features of Shitolian is Persaud's use of all lower-case letters throughout the book, which adds to the charm and personality of the work. The author has crafted a beautifully written and thought-provoking collection of poems that will resonate with readers long after the last page is turned. I have no reservations in giving this book a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars, as I found it to be free of any errors and a truly enlightening and thought-provoking read.

Overall, Shitolian is a touching and evocative collection that will undoubtedly make the reader feel uncomfortable at times but ultimately provides solace and comfort. I highly recommend this book to poetry enthusiasts who are interested in exploring meaningful and thought-provoking themes. However, due to the presence of profane language, it may not be suitable for younger readers.
