Truth and Evil: A Christian Historical Fiction Novelette Set During WW2 by G. Edward Martin follows a German soldier through his last acts on Earth, multiple chances to change his fate, and an outcome he never expected.
This is a fast-paced book that can easily be read in one sitting. The author, G. Edward Martin, uses vivid descriptions to draw the reader in and paint a picture that causes the audience to feel as if they are right there with the main character. Although the setting and conflict of the story are unique to active military personnel during wartime, the decisions and actions of the main character can be understood easily by the audience. I enjoyed the fact that this novelette is a historical fiction story. There are moments in the story that feel familiar because of the fact that I could recall historical lessons taught in school. Often, the German military and Nazi party is viewed as an evil unit, not as individuals who possibly just made one bad decision to lead to a war of evil. This story shows the human side of being a soldier during wartime. As a result, the reader is left with sympathy and understanding for the soldier and can easily put themselves in the various situations he finds himself in. This helps the reader connect to the main character and the story. It causes the reader to have sympathy for his plight.
As a result of the intense action created by the author, the reader is left pondering how he or she would react if given the same situation as the main character. This makes for not only an interesting storyline but also leaves the reader thinking about the story long after it is read.
I rate Truth and Evil: A Christian Historical Fiction Novelette Set During WW2 by G. Edward Martin 4 out of 5 due to the grammatical and punctuation errors. This is a fascinating novelette worth the read.
