Life Shattered by Sandy Graham tells the story of a young boy, Delbert Pillage, who had a tough time dealing with bullies in his school. His mates consistently taunted him about his physical looks; the bullies in his school embarrassed him, mistreated him, and teased him to no end. His family was extremely poor and could barely afford his needs. The only thing he had working for him was his brilliant mind and exceptional way of thinking, and these opened doors for him that would have otherwise been shut.

On his sad academic journey, he met Sylvia, who was intrigued by his personality and would later turn out to be his love interest. Just as their love was about to blossom, his math teacher discovered his outstanding abilities and took an instant liking to him. With the help of his teacher and his brilliant mind, he got an opportunity that drew him further into his studies and farther away from the love of his life. Will he eventually be able to achieve his full potential? Will he eventually find his way back to his love, or will their relationship just be a stepping stone on his way to fulfilling his purpose?

This story was beautifully crafted, and I absolutely enjoyed reading through it. I loved how detailed the years of ill treatment endured by Delbert were; it made me sympathize with the character more. Watching the protagonist’s transformation from a young and timid boy to a full-fledged man was an amazing experience. I was impressed by his determination to succeed amidst all odds.

I didn’t dislike anything about this book; the only part I didn’t really enjoy was the overly dramatic description of Sylvia’s beauty; it felt like she had nothing to offer but her beauty. Aside from this, the book was a beautifully told story with inspiring contents. I’d rate this book five out of five stars because the parts I didn’t enjoy could be easily overlooked. This book was excellently edited, and I didn’t find any grammatical or spelling errors while reading it. I’d recommend this book to people who enjoy stories of overcoming challenges and lovers of positive love stories.
