The only word that truly describes this novelette is outstanding. The description intrigued me, so I gave it a shot, and I was not disappointed. While I am not generally a fan of dark stories, this one was dark in a good way. It spoke truth in a real, soul-trembling way. Based on the description, my initial thought was that this was going to be like the movie ‘Groundhog Day’ where the story repeats over and over with subtle changes, but it was nothing like that.

G. Edward Martin has an exceptional talent for telling stories. I’m in awe of his unique and rare gift. I have read many books, but very few have completely immersed me in them the way 'Truth and Evil' has. G. Edward Martin deserves a perfect 5 out of 5 rating. The book transports you on a journey through the perspective of a young soldier. Immediately, you are confronted with a very challenging situation he is facing. Instead of merely reading about him and his thoughts and choices, you become him. The author did an incredible job, making me feel like the character. There were moments when I experienced physical responses to what I was reading, such as a pounding heart, and I even gasped out loud at a certain point. I had to reassure my family that I was okay. The book is more than just a story; it's an experience. I’m embarrassed to admit that I ended up having a nightmare after reading this book, but that speaks to how well the author was able to tell this story.

This book has been very well edited, as minimal errors were found. I believe it would be beneficial to add a trigger warning to the author's warning at the beginning of the book. I really appreciate that he added a warning about the book's dark nature and stated that it’s for adults, but even adults can be triggered by intense and horrible situations. Especially if they've encountered something similar.

This was a quick read, but definitely not an easy or forgettable one. The impact on my perspective of the devil, my life, and my beliefs was profound and life-changing. While I'm impressed with this book, I don't think it's a good fit for everyone. I will be extremely selective in the people I share this book with, as it is very intense and dark, as stated by the author.

G. Edward Martin has quickly become a favorite of mine. I'm looking forward to reading his other books!
