If you're into adventure, history, and in-depth details, then Mithra is one I would recommend reading. The book takes you into this action-adventure setting in the in-betweens of history that might just pique one's interest. It sets you in a world forgotten and only fragmentarily remembered in ancient times. Joined with a spirited and determined heroine who, without a doubt, wields her character and values to shape her story against the restraints of those opposing her. It's one of the many plots you commonly see in this genre, and yet the author makes Mithra stand out with the way the story is woven together. The downside for me is that the details and descriptions of some of the settings in the story were too lengthy for my taste, as it kind of set my focus on pause for the whole gist of the storytelling. It's good to create a clear picture of the event, but as it is aimed at young adults, patience to visualise it might not be its stronghold. I enjoyed every character and their respective roles in creating the environment and events in the story. The conflict, the side laughs, and the little teases were a joy to read as well. They didn't derail the whole plot, but they kept it interesting and fun to read. Overall, I enjoyed the story, albeit lengthy, as the book took me on an adventure I found fun and captivating at the same time. I do want to just tweak the detailing part when creating the mood, the setting, and the gist of the event, as it was almost dragging to read. But from the perspective of the whole book, I'd say it's a good read for me, as it takes me back to the days where I just fell in love with reading, especially this type of genre.
