Review of Deadly Waters: The Vietnam Naval War And Its Aftermath
The United States of America is a country that focuses on its military power. They said it is an honor for the citizens to serve the country. Many young adults were recruited into the military to dedicate their youth to the service. However, reality doesn’t always adhere to expectations. It’s a lie, where they are expected to sacrifice themselves as tools to be thrown away when they are no longer in use.
The book is Deadly Waters: The Vietnam Naval War And Its Aftermath by Randy Miller. The central theme of this book is the story of Zachariah Martin. Zachariah Martin, also known as Zack, is a young man from Vermont. Influenced by the propaganda of honor in fighting for the country, Zack joins the Navy, leaving behind his loved one. This book shows the life of Zack in the Navy, through the war, and even after he retired. This book also portrays the horror of Agent Orange, a chemical used in the Vietnam War that affects veterans in real life. The author illustrates the fate of the victims in this novel.
Thank you, Randy Miller, for writing this book and sharing this story. I appreciate his efforts in writing this book. If I am not reading this book, I would never imagine the horror suffered by the soldier. I like that I can learn the history of the Vietnam War through this reading. This book makes me feel for the veterans, of how unfairly their treatment by the government they had served. I also like the humor and romance in the story as it helps me immerse more into the story. I also like the writing style used by the author. The author includes slang in the dialogue making the characters feel alive. Sometimes I forget it was a story, like watching the movie Titanic . The glossary is also helpful for my understanding.
There is nothing I dislike about this book. It is one of the best books I have ever read.
This book is exceptionally well-edited, as I do not find any errors. This book has simple language, high-quality writing, clean formatting, excellent plots and storylines, and a good presentation. There is no reason at all to make any deduction on the rating. There are many positives without any negatives. Therefore, I am happy to give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in historical fiction, especially war history. This book provides a detailed historical war written from a personal perspective. The author wrote the story in compliance with the historical facts. Therefore, it is a must-read for anyone interested in history. I also heavily recommend this book to Americans, as I think this book will resonate strongly with them. I also recommend soldiers and veterans around the world to read this book. This novel will show them the dark side of the military. As a historical fiction book, this book contains war, romance, betrayal, death, trauma, and so on. If you like this kind of book, feel free to read it. May the readers learn to appreciate the veterans and hate the wars after reading this.
