Let the Children Come by Tom Fay is the story of a real man, George Mueller, who lived from 1805 to 1898. He was born and raised in Prussia. He lost his mother at a young age and was described as a hellion in his youth. His friend, Beta, was also a hellion. They both drank heavily and used drugs. However, Beta later converted to Christianity, and he helped convert George to God's word as well. George's father was not a Christian and disowned George. They were never close after that. Years later, George shared the gospel with his father, but he never knew if his father accepted Christ. Fay tells the story as if it happened in the 21st century. Even though times were very different, the story plays well in modern times. George's faith was unshakeable, and it only grew over the years. Beta was helping orphans in Haiti and needed a place to bring them. George started the Cherry Hills Academy, and gave homes to thousands of orphans providing educational opportunities for them. He fostered them with a safe haven and relationship with Christ. In George's later years, he traveled over 200,000 miles to England, Scotland, India, Spain, France, Italy, and Belize, establishing 117 schools. He also established the Plymouth Brethren denomination.

I absolutely loved this book. This was not the genre of book I generally read, but I am so glad that I selected it. George's life wasn't always easy, but he never lost his faith that God would see him through the worst of times. The love story of George and his wife Mary was so touching. The two of them, along with their daughter Lydia, developed and managed the Academy working side by side through the years. The children loved them. After Mary's death, he married Susannah who worked at his side continuing his ministry for many more years. It was quite emotional reading about the love George had for these two women, as well as his beloved daughter, Lydia.

There was nothing about this book that I didn't like. It was difficult to read about George's grief when he lost friends or family. I admit that I could not hold back the tears. But the way George faced each day with his unshakeable faith was both inspiring and uplifting.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. A couple of chapters in, and I couldn't put it down. It's also very inspiring. If you happen be at a low point in your life, and perhaps, questioning your faith, this book will encourage you to renew your faith in God. This book was exceptionally well edited.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good testimony about how far our faith can take us. George's story shows us that God blesses us through the tough times as well as the good times. This book is going to stay in my thoughts for a very long time.
