We all have things we believe in, but not everybody is willing to fight for them. In Wild World by Peter S. Rush, we see Steve Logan, a young man, stand up to fight a one-man battle against a corrupt system.

After hearing about the killing of four Kent State University students during a protest, Steve felt enraged and decided to make a change. After attending a seminar given by Sergeant Durk, he made the decision to set aside his intentions to go to law school in order to join the Providence Police Department. Against the opposition of his friends, he joined the Police Department. Upon completing his training and joining the department, he was astonished at the corrupt system he found. Despite numerous setbacks and hate from his fellow police officers, he was determined to change the system. Will Steve be successful? Read this book to find out.

Steve was easily my favorite character. He was determined to curb corruption alone. Despite setbacks and facing hate from the rest of the Police Department, he was not deterred. His courage was quite admirable and motivational. We definitely need more people that can stand up and decide to make a change like Steve. I was not too fond of Roxy's character. She easily cheated on Steve after he made sacrifices for her. She was not a good partner. She betrayed Steve when he needed her.

I loved the storyline; it contained a lot of suspense. It was a combination of romance and action. The characters were well-developed. The author did a commendable job. His writing style was descriptive and gripping. I could not drop the book. It was fast-paced. This book had moral lessons. It teaches us to have courage and fight for what we want. It also shows us that there are consequences for every crime we commit.

Police brutality is a social vice that still exists today, and I appreciated that it was a significant theme in this book. This pervasive problem has caused a lot of harm and has to be quelled. This book also gave me insights into the Vietnam War. A lot of people showed disapproval and held protests against it due to the bloodshed and loss of lives.

Due to the reasons stated above, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. There was nothing to dislike. It was thought-provoking, and I enjoyed reading it. It was amazingly well-edited, as I encountered no errors. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy historical fiction centered on action and romance.
