Jessie was flying through the sky in his plane when it suddenly lost power. His life flashed before his eyes as he called traffic control and prepared for a crash landing. Jesse was not a religious man, but Jesus always seemed to respond when he called on him. For example, when a tornado was heading straight for his dog, he begged Jesus to save the dog and take him instead. The tornado miraculously reversed course and returned to the sky. I wonder if his prayers will be answered this time as the plane hurtles towards the ground and he begs Jesus to save him. To find out the answer to this question, read Brian Casey's Starboard Eight.

Jesse had a bad temper when he was a teenager. So when he got into a fight with Rick from school for picking on his friend and Rick's brother, Billy shot and killed Jesse's dog, no one could tell him the truth. Jesse, on the other hand, found out and beat up Billy, and when Billy slapped his sister, Jesse nearly killed him. This forces his parents to make the difficult decision of sending him to boarding school. He made new friends and enemies there, and he learned to control his temper. Unfortunately, this is also the location where he was given the opportunity to fly the plane, which resulted in his unfortunate incident.

There was nothing about this book that I didn't like. It was captivating from beginning to end. When I first read the title, I assumed it would be a boring ship story, but the author knows how to write a captivating story. The plotted events flowed naturally into one another and demonstrated the consequences of being unable to control your temper. Many people act on impulse without considering the consequences, and I believe this is a great book to leave a reader thinking before acting.

I also enjoyed the book's depiction of family love between Jesse and his parents. It was difficult for them to send him away to school, but it was in his best interests to keep him from going down the wrong path. He had a terrible temper, which would have landed him in jail or, worse, would have killed him. This book teaches parents that it is better to let their children be angry with them for correcting them than to try to be their friend and abandon them to their fate.

This novel had no flaws and received 5 out of 5 stars from me. It was professionally edited with minor errors. It's an engrossing and reflective book that will appeal to adults who enjoy the suspense of not knowing what will happen next. While there are some religious elements, I believe it would appeal to any audience.
