The year 1970 is the focal point of Peter S. Rush's novel Wild World .The death of four students at Kent State University who were protesting the Vietnam War rocked Steve Logan's world just weeks before he graduated from Brown. A professor at the school stood up and announced that the faculty would demonstrate against the shooting of students and that the school would be closed for the remainder of the academic year. Steve Logan met Sergeant Duke, a policeman from New York City with a changed outlook who had been invited to the rally to speak against the war. Discussing the war wasn't the main reason Durk was there. Steve is persuaded by him to get involved to change the system. To stay with Roxy, the person he loves the most, Steve decided to retire from the legal profession. His intention to work as a police officer in Providence went unnoticed by his lover. Steve Part took the examination, and he succeeded on both counts. Things grew challenging for him as he joined the Providence Police Department; his friends now view him as a traitor; even the lady he loves has started to distance herself. At work, the reality of going up against the system quickly overwhelms him, and because of his integrity, he posed a threat to the other dishonest cops who resort to violence to maintain their position of authority.

The author has an engaging writing style and original ideas. This book's literary style is quite distinctive. The book stood out from all the others I've read. I liked how he explained everything in the book so I could understand it all.

I enjoyed the novel, but I would have preferred it if it hadn't started with murder and conflict. Some readers might be turned off by it and the false impression that the book would be filled with more deaths than it actually will.

I loved the book, found it difficult to put it down, and had very little else on my mind as I read it. I'll probably read it again because it stuck with me for a while after I was done. Another factor that influences my rating of the book is its writing style and I rate the book 4 out of five stars .

I recommend this book to young individuals who are willing to stop the unlawful slaughter of innocent students, to stop intruders in higher education, and to readers who believe that corrupt leadership needs to reform.
