One event can truly push the trajectory of an object onto another course. This was the case for Steve Logan. He was a senior at Brown University, had a girlfriend, Roxy, whom he loved, and had been set on his path to begin law school. He could see and taste his future with every step he took. Then, four students get killed by national guardsmen at Kent State due to ongoing protests. He then meets a New York City policeman whose passion to end corruption within the police force captivates him. Wild World by Peter S. Rush explores Steve’s journey as he abandons his plans and joins the Providence Police Department. He is determined to change the corrupt nature of the system, but reality and other officers make it a tough battle.

Wild World was riveting and compelling to read. The premise of one against a system set up a thrilling undertone and the tension throughout the book did not disappoint. The circumstances of his surrounding, the nature of police work, and the effect that his beliefs have on his relationships and life choices are detailed effectively. As readers, we can experience the dilemmas that Steve is faced with and how they affect his change and worldview.

Peter S. Rush is a fantastic writer and the writing was able to provide valuable insights into each character, allowing the reader to grasp their attitudes on morality and reality. The events and dialogue between the characters were realistic and vividly detailed. The author used humour well throughout the book to effectively engage the reader.

There was nothing I disliked and found negative about the book as I found the plot to be engaging and easy to read. A highlight of the book is the ever-approaching moment where Steve’s resolve will ultimately be put to the test as his idealism fades. Will he continue to risk his life trying to change the system? Will the strain on his relationship with Roxy make him settle and accept things the way they are?

I believe that the book was exceptionally written and edited. As a result, I give Wild World by Peter S. Rush a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The book contains much intrigue, harrowing moments, and wonderful characters.

I would recommend this book to people who enjoy action, a thought-provoking book, an entertaining book, or those who enjoy books on revolution and change.
