Review of Killing Abel
Christian strictly follow the Bible and always refers to it as the Holly Book. It contains various books written by different men of God during different times. One of the many books of in the bible is called Genesis which mean the begining.
In the book, Killing Abel by Michael Tieman, the authour tries to fill in the gaps always evident in the book of Genesis. In Genesis, the bible only talks about creation of man then to the eating of the forbiden fruit leading to Adam and Eve being exiled from the garden of eden. The bible fails to capture what happens in between the exile from the garden of eden to the birth of the first child.
I liked how Michael Tieman managed to clearly capture the differences between Cain and Abel. Adam and Eve gave birth to two sons after they were exiled from eden. Abel was the first born son and Cain was the second. Abel was very obedient and a good herdsman. He was obedient to his parents and to God and always offered the best among his flock as sacrifice to God. Cain was rebellious to everyone though he was a talented craftsman and a great farmer. He always offered the poorest yields harvested from the fields as sacrifices to God. Cain also had the tendency of questioning why they had to offer sacrifices to God. Becouse of his obedience to God and his parents, Abel won lots of favour from God and his family which made Cain to dislike him and ploted to kill him.
A societies way of life depends on the foundation laid down by it's founders. We can refer to a society either as evil or good society. What i found good about the book is how creatively how creatively the author discribes the society build by Cain. Cain's society knew no God and believed in no God and only based on law and governance. On the other hand, the society under Adam's leadership was a Godly society which believed in God and offered sacrifice to God. This society taught love and obedience to young children and the need to respect the elders.
The book covers everything from the fall of man to Noah and the floods. It is the best book i have read that fully captures biblical stories and makes it even more interesting. While reading the book i found nothing to didlike about the book as it was well editted and profread. It is for this reason that i rate this book 5 out of 5 stars and i recommend it to people of all age.It can help anyone understand the christian perspective of man and the origin of sin.Being a christian book, i fully recommend it to all christians who enjoy reading religiuos books.
