Review of Wild World
Wild World by Peter S. Rush is a Historical fictional book about events that occurred in the 1970s and a young named Steve Logan. The story begins with the killings of four unarmed kids at Kent State University by police officers, an event that profoundly affects Steve Logan, his girlfriend Roxy, and his friends, who decided to participate in peaceful demonstrations. Steve is a college graduate from Brown and wants to study law at Georgetown. However, he felt he was doing enough, and after an interactive session with a cop named Durk about reforming law enforcement, Steve decided to join the providence police force to change the world. A decision that put his relationship with his friends and girlfriend at stake. Inside the police department, he faced many challenges and struggled with corrupt cops his friends betrayed but stayed committed to bringing change and fighting for what was right.
One thing I love about this book is that it covers the social issues affecting the world today. It covers police brutality, racism, corruption, betrayal, family relationships, drug abuse, and love. I also love how Steve was determined and committed to bringing positive change despite his challenges, like being tortured and abused, almost losing his life, and being betrayed by his close friends who went against him. The story's plot is engaging and captivating; the author takes us to the seventies era during the Vietnam war. He captures the events like police brutality, how innocent people were killed, and protests against the government.
The characters were well-developed, and the language used was simple and easy to understand. The book's flow was excellent; one could easily read and follow the events in the book. I loved how the author detailed the scenes, making the book more fascinating. In addition, the author's impressive writing skills made the book more realistic and exciting. This book is a lesson to everyone because the issues captured in the book are what we are facing today, and just like Steve, we should also be part of the change to tackle these issues.
I disliked nothing about this book, and it is enjoyable and fascinating. I did not find any grammatical errors or typos, which means the book was exceptionally edited though I did find some instances of profanity.
I am glad to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of its excellent editing and captivating story. In addition, I found this book interesting, with many valuable lessons from the character Steve Logan.
I recommend this book to an audience who loves historical fiction, as Wild World will not disappoint. In addition, it will also be an excellent read for people who want to know about American history and Vietnam War.
