The book Wild World by Peter S. Rush is a book that combines a love story, a mystery, and a crime thriller. The story starts with the mayhem that broke out at the University of Ohio. To bring calmness to the environment, the police shot the college kids, resulting in a protest among the students. This uncivil act of killing college kids propelled Steve, a college graduate to join the Providence Police Department to change the directory of doing things. Steve believed that without the willingness to integrate and operate from within an institution, one cannot alter its settings and actions. This action was opposed by his father, his friends and everyone he told because of the preempt knowledge everyone has about the police. Steve tried his best as he joined the Providence Police Department to stay focused and not to be like the rest. However, two events shook Steve’s decision. First, the protest by tenants against the unfair treatment by the landlord. Roxy, Steve’s girlfriend was part of the protesters and Steve could do nothing but rescue her when she was jailed. Secondly, Norvell who was a drug dealer and Steve's student was involved in a shootout with the police and when Rizzo, one of Steve’s mates, needed help, Steve pulled the trigger. Norvell was hit by Steve’s shot and died after being taken to the hospital. Steve resigned from the police department as a result of his regrettable killing of a person.

A few things stood out for me in this book. First, a team of people can make a significant effect in some situations where one individual cannot. Steve thought that joining the Providence Police Department would help him to bring the desired changes all alone but this opinion was defeated when he resigned. Second, a decision in life may be very expensive, and if caution is not exercised, one risked losing a good relationship. As soon as Steve joined the police, Roxy noticed that his attitude began to change and this was already having an impact on their relationship. As a result, Roxy and Steve's relationship was on the edge of ending the relationship. Third, aside from the life lessons it contains, the book is well-written and easy to read from beginning to end.

Although I am aware that the book also covers the story of Steve and Roxy's romance, I did not enjoy the book's erotica because it easily causes a reader to become sidetracked by what they were reading. Also, the characters in the novel are a bit much for me but that is a personality thing and I should not generalize. Further, I noticed that some of the paragraphs are disconnected and it took a while for me to reconnect to the story.

The reoccurring themes in this book are love, change and balance. Due to the volume of sexual content the book contains, I recommend this book to adults and those who enjoy suspense novels.

Although no book is error-free as I found a few errors and grammatical mistakes. All these errors were easily noticed in this book. The book lost a star due to the noticeable defects and therefore I rated this book 3 out of 4 stars.
