The Fighting Ibex by Leo Peterson is a historical fiction novel set in Italy during the Cold War, 1955. After Victoria Shannon gets stood up by her rich fiancé in Italy, she decides to stay a week more in the hotel, rather than leave immediately and return to New York where she is from. However, she is left with a lot of money from the ordeal. Subsequently, four single men from the army, a group called the “Fighting Ibex”, check into the hotel. They find themselves four Englishwomen to keep them company. Single and alone, Victoria can’t imagine what she is going to do with her life, until one day she has dinner with one of the soldiers, and gets sexually involved with him. This story follows Victoria’s time in Italy, where after a major heartbreak, she meets people that stay in her heart for a lifetime.

I really enjoyed this book. It was captivating, engaging fun and interesting. There was drama, romance, action, wonderful plot and intriguing characters. My favorite character was probably the main, Victoria Shannon. She was strong, funny and could do almost anything the boys could do. She was also beautiful, making it more interesting. I also loved how the different arc of Alexander linked to Victoria's story. I didn’t have any dislikes. I enjoyed the book that much.

This book would appeal to lovers of drama or romance. It is also best suited for adults. And since some of the main characters were soldiers, the book could appeal to lovers of stories centered around the war. However, the main character was Catholic and went to church and prayer, which might bother some readers. In addition, there was a lot of romance and some erotica which might not be for all readers. In addition, the beginning of the book was a bit dark, but the story lights up from there.

I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars . It was amazing. I gave it a 4 because I enjoyed the story very much and would even read it again. It was also edited very well, enabling me to give it a 4.

In conclusion, The Fighting Ibex by Leo Peterson is a historical fiction novel set during the Cold War. It is best suited for adults and lovers of romance and historical fiction. I enjoyed the book very much and gave it 4 stars, I highly recommend it.
