The novel Beyond the Higher Ground by Thomas A. Brigger narrates the story of Tucker Mason, a lonely construction manager who is troubled by the death of his wife. Building a prison in a barren, hilly town in Southwest Virginia is Mason's most recent endeavor. The townspeople are suspicious of him when he arrives, and they play a number of nasty pranks on him. Mason is involved in an accident as the jokes quickly turn dangerous. Additionally, drug overdose incidents are increasing dramatically in the region, and there are rumors that a known drug lord will soon be back. Soon after becoming personally impacted by the drug scandal, Mason embarks on a mission to identify the network's origin.

The author's sarcastic expression of the inefficiency of law enforcement authorities is alluring. For example, investigations often take a long time to complete and are unsuccessful. Once more, it is inspiring to see how the author has embraced qualities like compassion and loyalty among friends. Any group of people who are dedicated to their success should make room for them. After losing their wives, it has assisted Manson and Jake Morrow in overcoming their feelings of loneliness.

The mystery and suspense that are woven throughout the narrative are my favorite elements; they piqued my curiosity about discovering the truth. The book is brilliantly written, and I found it to be incredibly captivating from start to finish. The work is written in the third person and is highly well-developed and descriptive.

The book deals with a delicate subject that today's culture is doing a lot of harm. Drug addiction is serious and shouldn't be treated lightly because it can ruin someone's bright future and possibly hasten their death. It demonstrates why, rather than shunning them, we should accept and support drug users. Supporting them provides them the opportunity to go back and start over, however, stigmatizing them will only make them a threat to our society.

The only aspect of the book that I started to dislike was how slowly the plot developed. The middle of the book could seem a little tedious to readers who aren't very patient. Aside from that, I was unable to discover any other issues with this book. Since I found no spelling mistakes in the book and it was professionally proofread, I gave it a score of 4 out of 4. I suggest it to fans of historical fiction because they will enjoy the novel.
