Beyond the Higher Ground is a narrative written by Thomas A. Brigger. In the book, the author talks about a man called Tucker Mason, working for a construction company hired to build a prison in Wells County, Virginia. Mason is portrayed as a private person, smart, and curious, which drives him super crazy. Brigger mentions Mason's deceased wife, countless times. Whom from what I read loved dearly, as the author makes an effort shows us how much her absence is affecting him. He gets involved in an accident shortly after his arrival in Wells County. He experiences strange encounters in the town; he hears and sees things. He is relentlessly tormented and threatened by people who want him out of the house that he has rented, which belonged to some locals who have passed on. He is in the dark about what is going on around him and in search for answers.

In my opinion, the title of the book is a good pick, because as plain as it is, it does not prematurely suggest that there is anything going on anywhere, but as you read on the meaning of the title gets revealed and it starts making more sense. That specific subtlety of the author is commendable. The book is enjoyable. A witty display of both friendship and hostility. I got to see two different character traits in this story: one with a secretive, dismissive, and questionable demeanor and the other friendly, caring, and cheerful. The characters are very strange, in their own way, which gives the story a realistic sensation, and also depicts the author as quite an imaginative person.

The attention to detail, descriptiveness, and author's choice of words are praiseworthy. The way he used different writing styles harmoniously gave the events of the book relativeness, which is one other positive thing that I noted. The author’s intentional manner of speech used for the character’s spoken language gives one a vivid picture of what kind of people live in that particular area.

The author has used a very interesting style of writing. The design of the story is tricky, is a sense that Brigger does not follow through with one storyline, but incorporates different plots and settings throughout the book, which leaves the reader hanging. The suspension creates anticipation and a sense of urgency to quench that obliviousness, which makes you want to read more. It is indeed a clever piece of writing.

This is a good book. I rate the book 4 out of 4 because I enjoyed it and deem it quite remarkable. I did find some uncounted errors in the book, but didn't think them sufficient to deduct a star as they did not impede my reading. I recommend the book to people who love reading fiction, thrillers, and any other mysterious content.
