In a town where people took too many drugs and pretty much just sat around roomers were bound to spread like wildfire. So it wasn't a surprise when the Newley residents passed away everyone gossiped about it for a long time. Long enough up to around the time that Tucker Mason came into town. He had only posed to ask for direction but he ended up being given all the “tea” about what had happened at the Newley’s. I found it to be so crazy that the first people he met in that town were on drugs or at least appeared to be high.

A new prison construction site was coming up somewhere near the mountains of Virginia. Tucker had just been assigned the position of manager for the construction. This was his first appointment to such a position his career. So with that excitement came a change of environment because he had move to Virginia. However, his excitement did not last long. Sooner rather than later things got very awkward for him.

The book had some great positives. The author did a good job in developing the characters of the book. They each in their own way, but collectively contributed to the plot of the book harmoniously and immaculately. The book and a lot of suspense that made me want to read more. It had good humor too. This made the book fun and intriguing. Also, the fact that the book wasn't so long made it a short and sweet.

I have no negative thoughts with regard to the writing of Beyond the Higher Ground by Thomas A. Brigger. I did not spot any spelling mistake or typing error in the book which led me to believe that the book was well written and edited. In general, I think the book was interesting and intriguing. There was a bit of cursing here and there, but that didn't influence my liking or rating of the book.

4 out of 4 would be a fair rating of the book. The author made the book very fascinating and intriguing. It was also genius how the author brought out themes like drug abuse, social injustice and superstition. These are issues that real life normal people go through in their daily lives. This made the book relatable and a bit more realistic. I would recommend this book to lovers of fictional thrillers anyone looking to enjoy a good read would also find this one satisfactory.
