Killing Abel: Fratricide by Michael Tieman is a fantastic story. The story centres mostly on what happened when God created man. The first man Adam and his wife Eve were the first humans created in the image of God to occupy the earth. The story goes further to explain all that transpired in the garden of Eden till the time of man's disobedience before he was cursed and cast out of the garden to begin a new life.

The new life man had was different from that which he enjoyed in the garden. Because of the curse, Adam was to work before he would eat as he will no longer enjoy the luxury of the garden of Eden. Adam and Eve got married and had many children. They built a home outside the garden which they called the "Square of Adam."Adam lived there with his household and made several sacrifices to God while he taught his children the way of the Lord. Cain and Abel are his sons acknowledged in this story due to their very visible difference. However, Cain was a rebel, he did not find it necessary to give sacrifices and soon his evil deeds were known by everyone in the Square, hence he is sent to exile. Will Cain repent and return to God after his exile? Will he continue to procreate as he did not have a wife at the time he left the "Square of Adam?" This is what you would find out in the story as I would not like to give any spoilers.

The story continues, and the world was filled with evil and chaos. God's reason for creation had been altered. Will God allow the humans he created to live without acknowledging him? Will he send a saviour to save all who want to repent? These are the questions that you would answer yourself after reading this story.

One thing I love about this story is the way it was written. I was glued to this story from beginning to end. I know of the creation story but the way Michael Tieman wrote this story will make one feel as if it were a new story. This story tells us that God is forever merciful and would not want his children to perish without a chance to repent. This is evident in his judgement of Cain after he killed his brother Abel. Another thing I love is that the story gives us a connection with God, a chance to always put him first in any decision we are about to make.

I did not notice an error in this book, which indicates that it was well edited. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I enjoyed the story. After all, It was a fantastic story of creation written in the Bible but also with more spice to keep one glued to the end. I recommend this book to all those who question God's existence and those who find it hard to come back to God because of their guilt of sin. The story paints the existence of God in all aspects, his mercy and love for all he created and his willingness to ever accept us back.
