This is a story that isn't commonly explored, the story of the creation of man. M. Tieman wrote Killing Abel to explore the story of creation from the very beginning, all the way to the first cleansing of the earth.

Eve, the first woman, saw a serpent eating of the tree of knowledge. She soon found out that it is Lucifer disguised as a serpent. Lucifer, an Angel, deceived Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit of knowledge, and she did. She found it delicious and eye opening. So she helped Lucifer convince Adam, the first man, to eat of the fruit contrary to the Father's will. For this rebellion, the Father cast the first humans out of the garden of Eden never to return. The Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, cursed the first humans as well as Lucifer for their disobedience. Adam and Eve left the garden to settle and strive for their survival. Years after their banishment, they decided it's time to procreate. They birthed many offspring while facing difficulties and overcoming trials and tribulations. But in the end, they were happy. But no good thing lasts forever.

Killing Abel is nothing short of a magnificent piece from M. Tieman. I found it hard to drop the book from the moment I picked it, and I finished it under three hours. Even though the story of the creation of man is well known (to Christians, as it is a story from the Bible), reading Killing Abel expand one's understanding of the story. The way Tieman described the scenarios as well as the unfolding of events was nothing short of interesting. He made it seem as though he was present at the beginning, witnessing the beginning of man.

A four out of four star rating for this book is only deserving. And I wouldn't hesitate to rate more if possible. There was no error whatsoever in the book, nor was a single typo found. The book seems to have been professionally edited.

There is a mild mention of sex in the book, but it was nothing erotic nor distracting. I would say this is a book for all readers, especially ones that enjoy historical fiction. Although the story was extracted from the Christians holy book, the Bible, It was not written to influence religion. However, some readers might find it uncomfortable to read and I would advise against reading it.
