No Dark Clouds by R. W. Nelson is a Christian historical fiction. It is tagged 'A Tale of the Christ' because it presents some events of the Bible as it relates to Christ and it intertwines it with the story of some begging children in Biblical Jerusalem. These children were homeless and orphaned. They were always forced to beg for alms by their cruel owner who was identified as Taskmaster. Most of the children had some form of physical disability or deformity and some were blessed with special abilities and skills which they harnessed to create more success in their 'work'.

Besides the children owned by Taskmaster, there was another child who also made ends meet through the lifestyle of begging. His name was not known but he was identified as Beggar Boy and he had a scarred face. Beggar Boy meets Taskmaster's beggar slaves and strategizes to help them escape from their cruel master. Concurrently, Jesus is going about teaching people about the ways of God and performing mighty miracles. The Jews are against Jesus and seek to kill him while Beggar Boy having heard of him, seeks to meet him and ask for healing for his scars.

No Dark Clouds is an interesting tale. Diverse themes are reflected in the book such as religion (Christianity), slavery, poverty, conspiracy, and love (God's love). I love how diverse stories of the Bible and the power of Christ are reflected in one action-filled story. The characters are all lovely and the scenes are painted in dramatic ways.

I am a Christian and what I appreciate most about this book is that it was spirit-lifting and it built my faith in Jesus more. As I read about the miracles and activities of Jesus that were all done out of love, I found my faith growing more. However, I think the book was a little bit bewildering and it had some elements of ambiguity as a result of the plenty simultaneous scenes and names of characters that were mentioned. I feel that the reason I could enjoy and flow with the book was that I was already familiar with the Bible stories that were crafted into the book, otherwise it would have been difficult for me to flow with the book. This is what I liked least about the book.

By and large, No Dark Clouds is an interesting novel that spoke to my soul and entertained my body and mind. It is exceptionally well-edited. Based on these, I give the book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I choose to withhold one star because of the elements of ambiguity I think the book carries. I recommend it to all story lovers who do not mind reading about things that pertain to the Christianity religion.
