The Fox by M.N.J Butler is a tale of deceit and war. When his own power-hungry family casts him out. Once a prince of a great nation he is left hungry, alone and penniless on the streets. Now begins his journey as a young soldier. We stand first row to bear witness to his triumph and the pain he must face. The unique writing style and talented descriptions make you feel like you are right there.

The references to words and mythology help a lot with unknown myths and history. The book can be further enjoyed with ease, not having to do research as you go. We follow the prince Leotychides from his palace days to his brutal training and life in the ancient military. I liked the messages in this book. To be able to handle it when you don't get what you wanted or get rejected. To pick yourself up and never give up. When you're in hell don't stop, just keep going. I think since the language is clean and there are great life lessons, this book is great for young adults.

The narrative switches smoothly from the prince's point of view to third person. This allows the reader to see things through many eyes and its brilliant to read. The way women were portrayed was a breath of fresh air. In a time that makes most grimace at how women were treated, this book was the opposite. The safety and education of women are important in this story and it should be.

I rate this read 4 out of 4 stars . Its a nice long read and doesn't get the credit it fully deserves. Its clear planning and hard work went into this ancient tale and is a solid read because of it. The editing seems perfect and I couldn't find any mistakes. It was great to read a book so well cared for. There was no profanity and that came as a surprise. Proves you can tell a fantastic story without it and it makes for a good read to a wider audience.

I recommend this book for those who enjoy historical fiction as well as mythology. Military fans would enjoy this for sure as well as action and war fans. As mentioned, this is a clean read language wise. Its a hearty book and takes a while to read, but is completely worth it.

I read this book too and I try to read its reviews if I come by any. I like what you pointed about what we can learn from it. Most of the modern content teaches you to not be content. This book was different. Good job with the review👏.
