The Road to Delano was a journey into a time when nobody seemed that bothered about taking advantage of others. Set amongst the grapevine fields
of California, the story follows two high school seniors who find that their dreams for playing college baseball may not be all there is to life. Quickly the two friends are exposed to greed, corruption, labor strikes, and murder. Faced with a nearly impossible choice, what will they decide to do?

While the circumstances that are the backdrop for this story actually took place about 50 years ago, the story and the issues it grapples with are eerily applicable to today. Equal rights, equal pay, equal humanity for people of color, women, and the LGBTQ community are all groups that are facing similar persecution to the migrant workers of the story.

At times a bit slow, the story does, however, certainly make a person think. The plot forces the reader to examine and re-examine her own role in the issues of today. Overall, an interesting read.
Rating: 3 out of 4.
