Imagine a son from Cien años de soledad with Arrancame la vida, add some Pedro Paramo and some from the autor and you get this book.

It´s crime, it´s drama, it´s magic, and some comedy, a fairy tale, a caution tale.

The book is about a town, and the people in it, the way they slowly but firmly are in a spiral of loss. Sometimes it takes its time to develop the story but it´s so rich, so full, so complete that it doesn´t fell like waste, but it feels like a complement to the main story, not like some filling, but like a puzzle with so many and diverse pieces that you need to see them to get the full picture.

The only thing that I didn´t like is that it´s a sad story, that´s no spoiler, it´s sad from the beginning with two deaths.

It´s melancholic, and sometimes it shows happiness, while shows that this happiness is not eternal.

Anyway, you can get caught in the story and feel so much for the characters, and maybe even angry for their fate, but live is not fair and specially in the time and place it tooks, there´s no way it could finish different.

So I recommend vastly this book. So I rate this book with 4 out of 4 stars.
