Review by Julyet_Chris -- Beyond the Higher Ground
Beyond the Higher Ground, by Thomas A. Brigger is an engaging historical fiction novel with fragments of adventure, drama, and Love. The book walks readers through a reverie of emotions as the main character in the book strives to find a place to call home.
The Book swivels around Mason Tucker, A builder who seeks permanence in his life. Friction started in his life when he lost his brother which caused the separation of his parents. This was when he lost his home, So he thought, until he met Katherine. She had the sweetest smile, Smile capable of soothing a storm, and that was how she fixed the Life of Mason Tucker, But what happens when Katherine dies leaving a broken Man who embarks on a journey to a strange land, A place he is not used to, Is Mason Tucker running away from Memories that bring him pain or is he on the quest to fix the broken pieces of his life?. Will he survive in this foreign land even when there’re forces against him?.
Thomas did a great job with this book, When I chose this book to read, I didn’t expect the kind of Suspense and twists encompassed in this volume. There’re even elements of Crime, humor, drug abuse which I would never had foreseen, which made me savor the book even more. The Storyline was enchanting and awe-inspiring. This is a typical page turner, and you wouldn’t even want to skip a word while reading.
The Character development was top tier, The way he used some chapters to describe the important character(s), giving one a better understanding of the behavior of the character(s) and was still able to maintain the storyline without going of-track. No character in this book was dispensable. I liked how every character was linked.
This book evoked different emotions in me, I felt Anger, Regret,Undying Love, Pity,Pain at different Chapters and with different Characters. It didn’t seem as if I was just reading the book, I felt like a direct spectator who experienced whatever stubble or joy any character encountered.
Personally, I loved the illustrative approach from the Third Chapter, It wasn’t so bloated but enough to paint visual images in my mind. He used the descriptive writing style which made it easier to understand every character, plot twist and scenario played out in the book.
The only thing I found upsetting was that the First two chapters of this book were over-inflated, There is something about vivid imageries, but I would prefer Mason to drive without noticing “deteriorating” mountains or examining every single person he came across while driving. But this was only temporal,Besides, it did not deter me from enjoying the book.
This book was extraordinarily perfect, There is no record of grammatical errors. This book was proofread and professionally edited. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to the lovers of Mystery, Crime thrillers and adventure stories.

Thank you,It’s a great book.Dee_Robert wrote: ↑09 Jun 2020, 14:29 It sounds like a good book full of drama. It's not every time people write about recovery from losses and the journey to healing in a novel do this welcome.
Nice review.
