Bedu: Bedouin Boy, Poet King by David W.Sutherland and Paul McKellips was a very strange read. I gave it 3 out of 4 stars , because I enjoyed it even though I had some minor issues. It was pleasant to read about ancient times. The atmosphere of the book was very biblical, it was almost like i was reading a tale from the Bible. The story was simple and bright, without very tragic or violent moments.

I enjoyed it but sometimes I was a little bored. I don't know which age group this is for. If the book is for children or younger teenagers, it will be appropriate. But if it's addressed to adults, I think it will be a little too simple. I would like to see more depth in characters, see them more mature (don't get me wrong, the characters are not childish or silly, but their problems or thoughts are simple, just like they were kids).

The authors' writing style was okay: very simple and light. It was like I was swimming through the book. There was no errors and the whole book was edited very well. Also, there's no swearing or steamy scenes, so Bedu: Bedouin Boy, Poet King is perfect for children.

I liked all the characters, but Bedu was my favourite. I could connect with him easily. I adored how he could describe pretty simple and ordinary things in extraordinary way. I loved his poet side, his sensitivity, the way he saw the world around himself.

Yasmin was likable, but I couldn't relate to her. I have nothing to say about her, except that she was simple and nice. She's not so memorable. I liked her interactions with Bedu but it was always more due to Bedu than to her. She was a little too vague and foggy.

I enjoyed the plot and the story, even if it was a little predictable. I could say how the story will end but still, I had a lot of fun while reading it. At some moments I laughed, at some moments I was sad, but it wasn't very emotional. It was very magical and that's the biggest adventage of this book.

Also, I liked familial love between Bedu and his family. It was really cute and touching. I would like to see more of their connection.

It's nothing important, but I think the title is a little too long. I couldn't remember it for some time. I think it would be better to cut it to The Poet King but it's only my opinion.

I recommend this book to everyone but especially to children and younger teenagers. Also, the final note from the authors is epic!
