Written by LINA J. POTTER, FIRST LESSON is a tale capable of inspiring young people to see possibilities even when it looks like nothing can be achieved to make living worthwhile. The book has been put together in a way that really influenced my thinking, one can make the best out of unpleasant situations and learn to move on with life even when it throws you the odd side of it.

As a trained medical doctor, Aliya was so proud of herself and very happy to be with her parents after a long time with no physical contacts. She was ready to put in practice the knowledge she has acquired within the years of her training only for her to be faced with the unexpected of seeing herself in another world.

The tale gives an insight into myths, royalty and intimacy. It takes a level of intimacy and patience to get secrets revealed. Aliya could not get answers to her silent questions by talking to her nanny, her wandering mind could not help either.

It emphasizes the importance of family relationship and understanding. The children from the illicit affairs of Jessie made her twin brother Jyce have heirs to the throne because of his impotency caused as a result of the edematus fever he suffered when he was a young boy.

Everyone everywhere has secrets that remains secret for as long as it is kept with one self or few trusted friends. Secrets bring continuity, strengthens relationship and family bond.

FIRST LESSON , points at the fact that learning in growth process equips and empowers the mind. According to Aliya, "knowledge is the best weapyin any fight". Adequate knowledge gives freedom of mind and enable one to widen his horizon.

Aliya's mind was open to new discoveries, she was ready to explore her new world but there is need to exercise limit even in her freedom.

A chapter describes the pain of fighting oppositions to genuine love as the fight for freedom. It may come along with forgetting about family and friends but it will worth it at the end when both lovers are happy together.

Lina J. Potter in her tale gave a lesson to every young mind and women especially that, she can gain more respect and authority if she can put many things together with her hands, not just for her comfort or advantage but for the benefit of others. The book also reveals that, it is very certain that,in life many will not believe your ability to do some things, they will not be bold to entrust you with their precious life and valuables until you convince them with your skills and confidence.

The book is well arranged and written in simple English. I enjoyed the segments of Lily's life and activities but there are lessons to learn even when it gives a boring mood. The author did a great job. I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars, it has some olden days ideas which may not be applicable in our modern days but teaches morals and challenge young ones to acquire knowledge and skills so they can be self-dependent. The book is suitable for young people,it will help them stay focus and versatile.
