I think the book will be more appreciated by readers who enjoy memoirs, themes of family and neighbourhood bonds. I appreciate that the characters are so well developed and the book is professionally edited.

Watching characters grow is such an amazing feeling. It feels as though you're there in their very community witnessing every step. I am glad that they are well developed and the novel is very well-written. Thanks for a great and informative review.

The fact that this family eventually had to sell their home to escape their neighbors shows that this novel contains much reality within its pages. We have all either experienced this ourselves or are close with someone who has.

I am glad to see that this is a very authentic story about coming of age after the end of the second World War. It's great to hear that it was well edited. This sounds interesting to me.

I think the youth from this generation should read this, to know how the world was in those times. I love to read about the things that happened in those times. So I'll definitely read this one. Thank you for such an amazing review. Without reading your review I wouldn't have known that this book gives us "nostalgia of a world in simpler times".

I am a sucker for historical fiction, and for realist fiction, which it sounds like this novel could be. Also, I haven't read many works set in Australia, so I'll definitely be checking this one out. Thanks for the comprehensive review!

The story sounds intriguing especially how the family went through everything together and the hard working mother and father but it is sad that they couldn't reconcile with the neighbors.

Thank you for sharing your review with us. I thoroughly enjoyed the sample pages and I love that it is written from a child’s point of view. I will definitely be adding this book to my reading list.

Memoirs are a tricky taste for me, and I go back and forth a lot on whether I like them or not. It's interesting sometimes though to learn about people's experiences during times that I have no personal knowledge of, be it because of it happening before I was born or in another country. But this one seems like it might make for an interesting read.

While historical fiction may not be my first choice, I do read some once in a while. This seems like one of those amazing exceptions. I am intrigued by the funny factors in this book and want to learn about Annie's coming-of-age story. It's good to know that there were no grammatical errors. Always a plus sign on my list! Congrats on the insightful review.

Thank you for a great review. I'm excited to read this book now. You hear of many stories from people in the United States or the UK but not many other stories about families in other countries such as Australia.
