Diary of a Snoopy Cat is an illustrated children's book that consists of the diary of Inca (a Siberian cat) who moved with her family from France to London. Inca lives with her Mum (known as Missy), Cara (a Siamese cat), Charlotte (a Roborovski dwarf hamster) and Fromage (a tabby-cat) in a little cottage house in Kensington.

With her brother Fromage and sister Cara, Inca takes on some detective work and works together with her friends and neighbours, Monk (another cat), Terrance and Polo (their dog friends), to solve cases in their neighbourhood. Inca dreams of being a very good and famous detective, and it's both adorable and admirable.

This book is beautifully illustrated with engaging pictures and drawings. I admired the cartoons as I moved along with the story. The handwriting also adds on to it's fun vibe. Throughout the book the author has included some valuable lessons that I feel would be of great benefit to children all over. A few examples include, when they work with Boss on his case-don't judge a book by it's cover, when Inca works to retrieve the will-you learn the importance of teamwork, and many more.

As Inca get's to know more about her neighbour's mysteries, her snoopy nature and detailed accounts in the diary helps us to picture the scenarios in our heads and easily follow along with her thoughts and feelings. Aside from this being a children's book, I believe that any animal lover would fall in love with this book, the animal concept is a great plus, the cats and dogs behaviour is very relatable, their attachment to their mum, their jealousy at anyone who wants their mum's attention, their sneaking in into houses, Fromage hating baths, and their reluctance at making friends with Boss (a 'very strict' neighbour's dog) Also, who doesn't like a good book with a good Christmas ending?

I rate this book 3 out of 4. It is generally a good read but aside from my loosing concentration a little when the author trails off from the point, I enjoyed myself reading this. This is a book I would definitely get for my child. I don't give it a perfect rating because I found some hard words that would probably be a bit difficult for children, some examples include 'agog' and 'croquettes' I also didn't finish it at a go, and this tells me a lot about how much the book interested me. It captured my interest, yes, but not completely. I'm hoping it would be a different case for children though. I recommend this book to children between ages 7-14.
