SIGFRIED'S SMELLY SOCKS is an engrossing, awesome and remarkable children's book. It is small, amusing, catchy and hilarious. When you miss comedy, fun, and laughter, you should rush and get a copy of this book. Staring at the title, I thought it is childish, probably boring, but when I opened it, oh! You should have seen my radiant face.
Sigfried is wondering why his socks are stinking. He tries to explain it, but he seems not to find a suitable reason. Throughout the book, he expresses his discomfort from the overwhelming stinking smell from his socks. If you sat next to me, you could read the expression on my face. I felt the impact of the scent on him, especially from his funny comparisons and description of the smell.
Holding back the laughter was the most difficult thing to do. The writer took me back, to my childhood days. I wish I could enter a child’s mind and just have a glimpse of their pure and funny thoughts. The magical, bright and warm drawings in this book made it so lovely. The coloring enhanced its beauty. It is heartbreaking that the fun was cut short by the length of the story. The tour through this book was so enjoyable. This is the funniest thing I have ever read.
Am glad to have gone through this book, just at the break of the day, now I can’t erase the prolonged smile on my face. It has surely made my day. The writing was clear and witty. Simple for any child to understand. The font used was appealing to the eyes. It can easily capture the attention of a child and enhance their interest to read more.
The writer's ability to establish a connection between the wordings and the images was very impressive. An example was in the sentence, ‘perhaps it was the rotten banana that I left on the page right here,’he then links the statement to the banana’s image.
I recommend teachers, parents, and grandparents to adopt this mode of teaching in training children. This book is a creative tool that would build and help develop a child’s imaginative thinking. Every parent should acquire a copy of this book for their children. It will motivate them to love reading and also improve their grammar. I could not identify any reason to dislike this book. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. With much enthusiasm, I would love to read more from the author.
