The Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is mainly about a group of domestic animals that get together to help their humans who are in distress. The star of this book is undoubtedly Inca - a pet cat - who wishes to be something a little extraordinary (like one of her animal friends) and she is willing to take quite a risk to achieve this goal.

Throughout the story there is an underlying thread of friendship and loyalty, and the acceptance of those whom may have been misjudged. The author manages to make this a funny, exciting and interesting story with some quite unexpected plots.

I loved the way that the author chose to tell the story using the method of keeping a diary, since this brings an element of reality to a story in which the star character is a cat! Furthermore, not only do the events that take place come to life, but there is also a very real and caring relationship among the characters! I also like this (diary) aspect of the book because it could encourage children to want to keep a diary for themselves, and lead to the development of their writing skills.

One thing that was really enjoyable for me was that I sometimes laughed out loud at the characters’ antics and comments.

The only down side for me (if one must be mentioned) was that there were many characters to keep up with, and I sometimes got a little lost in figuring out who’s who. Having said that however, I just reread a previous part where that character had been introduced in order to get my bearings and this did not at all take away from my enjoyment of the book. The author actually provides “a little family tree” that introduces the main characters at the start of the book which is very interesting and witty.

I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because it is a wonderful children’s book that is captivating and witty. The illustrations also added to the story and were superbly adorable. I’ve always loved books with pictures. :) It’s great to read either snuggled up by yourself or out loud for others, especially children.

If you love children’s stories and a little suspense, and if you love animals talking to each other and being little heroes, this is the book for you. This is fiction and fantasy and will not be suitable for persons who may not enjoy its lighthearted approach.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi.

Hahaha. I think it's funny that saying the main character is a cat writing in a diary brings an element of reality.

I’m glad to see that the book has some great humor. I’m glad for the diary style, and I think that I would agree that it helps encourage kids to do something similar.

What would you suggest as the ideal grade level or age range for this book? I’m wondering whether this would be something my 2nd grade daughter might enjoy. She loves animals, but she's just starting to get a grasp of reading right now.

I think that this book is suitable for 8 to 10 year olds. Younger children may enjoy it too, if it’s read to them; but remember to show them the pictures.

I just read this one. I had never read the other ones in the series. I did enjoy it, it's humorous and unique, but there are a lot of characters to keep track of! That part was difficult. Definitely a book an adult and child can read together over several nights.
