Review of Halloween with Snowman Paul
Halloween with Snowman Paul is a holiday-themed picture book by Yossi Lapid. It is a perfect blend of words and vibrant pictures inspired by the adventure of Halloween. For adults, this book will trigger fun memories of Halloween in your childhood. It will stimulate the spirit of adventure, creativity, curiosity, and liveliness for children. This book can be used during story time, reading seasons, art and painting lessons, and any other learning activity you choose. Dan and Snowman Paul have a Halloween tree-house party but before joining them, you must consider several warnings!
Yossi presents a captivating story using simple language and minimal words. In the story, you will meet interesting characters similar to those in your favorite animated videos. Yossi is an amazing storyteller who uses simple descriptive words that transport you to a dream world full of exciting activities. The author gives us several warnings that you may choose to heed or defy. Right from the first warning, you will be intrigued by the superpowers portrayed by the characters on each page. Your courage, resilience, and curiosity will be tested as you immerse yourself in the adventure with the dragons, aliens, and other characters. Although the stories are brief, the author leaves room for imagination as you try to figure out what happened next or at last. Warning number two intrigued me because I have heard several stories about witches. I invite you to find out what the witch in this book is capable of.
I acknowledge Joanna Pasek's clear and creative illustrations that complement Yossi's writing perfectly. With the minimal words in the book, the pictures add details, liveliness, authenticity, and diversity to what is already a good story. I can imagine the fun of teachers and students deciding to redraw and repaint these pictures while adding their unique patterns, colors, and words. The vibrant colors in these pictures portray Pasek's limitless imagination and the ability to tell a story using pictures. You will love the surprise at the end of the book. I like the conciseness of the book which allows for multiple readings. There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this book.
The editing team did well; I encountered zero errors while reading. I rate this book five out of five stars because it is entertaining and insightful. I recommend it to children and adults who love adventure books.
