I Wonder Why It's Christmas by Esther Ekunola is an illustrated book about the story of the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. Christmas is the most beautiful time of the year, filled with presents and amazing decorations. But we must also remember why we celebrate Christmas. This book will help us adults explain to children the time when a baby was born to save us from our sins.

I love everything about this book. The illustrations were aesthetically pleasing. The colors were not too bright; they were more of a muted color palette. And the art style was so cute. The story is also concise and very interactive. There were questions underneath each illustration, which made the book very engaging for children. There were also questions at the end of the book, which is perfect for gauging children's understanding.

I loved that the book's objective is to narrate why Christmas is celebrated. Young people truly have so many questions during the holiday. I loved that the story told in this picture book is based on the Bible. There were also verses that accompanied some scenes. This book is a creative and fun way to explain to children the birth of Jesus Christ while being entirely based on the Bible.

There's nothing I didn't like about this book. It has such beautiful illustrations and achieves its objective of explaining why Christmas is celebrated. I also noticed just some minor grammatical errors, but they did not meddle with the flow of the narrative. With that said, I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I would recommend this book to children aged 5 to 7. It is perfect for parents to read to their children as a bedtime story. I would also recommend it to children who just learned how to read independently.
