Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids is a beautiful story of kids learning about Jesus through dreams. There is power in a child sharing their vision of what Heaven is to them. More importantly, Emma did not want to experience it herself and asked God to let her sister Bella join in the next dream. The illustrations depict precisely what Emma is sharing with her family. I appreciate the illustrators' focus on making the edges of the painting hazy to enhance the dream feeling.
While everyone needs to understand that there is a Hell, I want to ensure my child is prepared for that conversation before reading this book. I appreciate the courage of the author to share about Hell in a children's book; I wish it were done more lightheartedly. Therefore, I am giving this a 4 out of 5-star rating since parents will still need to review it before reading. While this is very much a personal preference, I also view the page on Hell to be used as a scare tactic and not expressing the God who is a God that is involved relationally in your life. Emma shares the importance of going out and telling others about Jesus and His love for her.
Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids could be used as a devotional book with the family as there are Bible verses at the bottom of some of the pages that go along with Emma's description—being able to take the extra time as a family to see where Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul pulled their truths from. I do wish there were verses to reference on the Hell page for the older children. Overall, I highly recommend Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids to be added to your family library! The writing is flawless; you can look at the pictures several times, and something different sticks out, and it shares the true story of the real Jesus.
