In Stevie Tenderheart Books WAIT A MINUTE!, author Steve William Laible invites young readers into a delightful world of imagination and wonder. Stevie, our young protagonist, finds solace in his bed—a place where bedtime stories come alive and dreams take flight.

Stevie’s parents often share bedtime tales with him, but when they don’t, Stevie’s imagination kicks into high gear. He fantasizes about filling his bed with an array of fascinating objects. From colorful balls like basketballs, tennis balls, and footballs to a menagerie of pets—dogs, parrots, chickens, rabbits, and even frogs—Stevie’s bed becomes a canvas for his whimsical fantasies. Each item finds its place, one at a time, as Stevie revels in the joy of creation.

But there’s a twist. After each imaginative addition, Stevie pauses and utters those magic words: “Wait a minute.” In that moment, practicality sets in. He considers what his parents might say or whether they’ll scold him for his audacious ideas. And then, with a chuckle, he dismisses the impracticalities and moves on to the next fanciful notion.

What I liked about this book is that it is a delightful blend of fun, humor, and pranks. The author’s clever use of quotes at the beginning and end of the book adds depth and wisdom. Scattered throughout the pages are notes that reveal more about Stevie and his world—a playful touch that engages young readers. As a bedtime story, this book hits the sweet spot. It’s concise, ensuring that little ones can drift off to dreamland without delay. The whimsical illustrations add to the charm, making the reading experience even more enjoyable. And the editing is also flawless.

In my opinion, there’s nothing to dislike about this book. It's pretty much flawless.

I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I have given it a perfect rating because this book is engaging, imaginative, and brimming with fantasy. It’s a delightful addition to any child’s bedtime routine.
