What does the word joy mean to you? Young readers will discover the answer to this question in J. M. Ashmore's beautiful book, Spiker the Jumping Spider Learns about Joy. Follow Spiker in his adventures with his friends Crispin the cricket, Sully the light blue spider, and Gerry the grasshopper, and have fun discovering the meaning of this mysterious and magical word! Join the little creatures as they dry themselves from the rain with feather towels, build a tent on a tree, hunt for delicious snacks, and help friends in need. At the end of the book, you will also be able to reflect on the morale thanks to some questions and learn more about jumping spiders and crickets.

It may be obvious to say that a book about joy brought me joy, but that is what I felt reading about the funny adventures of Spiker and his friends. They teach that we can find joy in small things if we stop complaining and decide to look at the bright side. Whether we are wet from the rain and find something to dry ourselves with, unexpectedly find some good snacks, or help a friend, joy is an emotion to be protected to live in the best way possible. This is the precious teaching of this book.

I must say that the images are beautiful, and I am sure children will never tire of admiring them. The pictures of the characters are wonderful, and you will love them for their big, expressive eyes.

I also add that, although there is a quotation from the New Testament at the end, I believe that the book is also suitable for non-Christian readers because its theme has universal value.

I am also happy to add that the book is exceptionally well-edited because I found no typos while reading.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it has only positive aspects. The story is delightful, the protagonists are adorable, and the images are gorgeous. What more could you want? I recommend this book to young readers who love tiny creatures and enjoy optimistic stories.
