Review of The Very Hungry Beagles Guide to Poop
Once, in my review, I said that children's books should be examined more carefully than every other book. Here, we will talk about another book: "The Very Hungry Beagles: Guide to Poop" by M. Jackson, Lucky, Mr. Beckham, and Peanut. The name doesn't sound appropriate, at least from our adult's point of view. Still, we will take a closer look, and we will also decide if the book is worth being in your child's arms.
The concept is unique, to my mind; as you can see, beagle dogs were mentioned as co-writers. Why? Well, these beagles created a poop rating. They describe how the feces smell, taste, and texture, and provide an exhausting explanation of their rating. All this is seasoned with humour and bright pictures!
To begin with, I want to note an exceptional editor's work; I found no typos or misspellings. The writing style that the authors use is clean and easy to follow, as expected. However, I noticed a small flaw: To my mind, the print the authors used is pretty small and hard to read for a child (considering that the colour of the pages changes). Of course, it is not a flaw for an adult, but I think this book is designed more for a young reader than a young listener (again, the bright images and the topic itself prove it). Also, I praise the illustrator's work; Ros Webb did a phenomenal job. It is the best illustration work for a children's book I have ever seen.
In summary, I rate this book 5 out of 5. Unquestionably, the subject might sound a bit nasty for adults; still, we all know the way this topic makes children laugh. This book will be a good choice for every parent. To my mind, the best reader is between 4 and 7 years old.

Thank you for your kinds words!Gerry Steen wrote: ↑25 Feb 2024, 20:31 This review makes a good case for acquiring this childrens' book. The editing is flawless and the illustrations are the best this reviewer has ever seen. What is there not to like? The author and artist have earned this 5-star rating. Of course the children will laugh. If you have ever taken dogs for a walk you know that they love to smell poop. I think animals leave messages for each other in their poop! Thank you for this great review.![]()
