This illustrated children's book features a kangaroo doctor and her toad and llama assistants. The doctor receives a call from the mayor of Washington, D.C., who is a marsupial, asking for her help in solving a July 4 mystery. It seems that all the hotdogs and marshmallows have gone missing! The doctor and her entourage then fly all the way to Washington, D.C., to solve this mystery. Read about this adorable adventure for your kids in Dr. Marsha and the Case of the Missing Marshmallows and Hotdogsby Dr. Rachel B. Wellner.

This illustrated story book reads like a rhyme at times, which I think the children will love. The author’s aim with this book is to instill good eating habits and other values such as seeking and exploring, imagining and creating, traveling and uncovering, and I believe that this would be a good reminder for children to do just all that. The story of this book is incredibly unique and charming, with a subtle twist that would be apt for children. The characters all being animals is also another attractive aspect for kids. The illustrations were also quite attractive and humorous. The various expressions on different animals were hilarious. Another thing I loved was that the surnames of the characters were what kind of animals they were. And the author used alliteration in naming her characters, which children would love.

I found no negatives in the book; it was also exceptionally well edited.

I give this book a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars. It has everything one looks for in a children's book. Quirky characters, colorful illustrations, an easy but fun twist at the end, and some values to reflect. It would make for a great daytime read for children. I would recommend this book to kids between the ages of 3 and 5, but not higher. Overall, I definitely recommend this book to parents looking for children’s books.
