Stevie Tenderheart books WAIT A MINUTE! (An Illustrated Novella) by Steve William Laible is a delightful novella that captures the essence of a child's imagination and curiosity. The author's whimsical and playful writing style caters perfectly to a kid’s delight, engaging young readers with a series of imaginative scenarios that stem from a child's innocent mind.

One of the novella's strengths lies in its ability to evoke creativity in young minds. The author goes beyond creating fanciful situations by exploring the possibilities and consequences of each action. This not only enhances the imaginative experience for children but also encourages them to think about the outcomes of their own ideas.

The coordination between text and illustrations is commendable. The captivating and colorful illustrations not only complement the narrative but also serve as a visual aid, introducing children to various insects, birds, and animal names in a fun and entertaining manner. The inclusion of blooper reels at the end adds an extra layer of entertainment, making the novella even more engaging. This feature provides a humorous touch and serves as a delightful surprise for readers.

I appreciate how Steve subtly incorporates educational elements by mentioning vitamin C and referring to some foods as "superfood." This adds a layer of awareness about nutrition in a playful context. It could be a clever way to introduce or reinforce basic nutritional concepts to young readers while maintaining an engaging and entertaining narrative. Including such details not only makes the writing more informative but also encourages readers to think about the variety and nutritional value of different foods in a fun and imaginative manner. Furthermore, the inclusion of snack, vegetable, and fruit names adds an educational element, making learning enjoyable for young readers.

The novella effectively maintains a balance between offering advice and providing an engaging narrative. While reinforcing positive behavior and bedtime routines, it does so in a manner that aligns with the whimsical and lighthearted tone of the overall story. This balance allows readers to glean valuable lessons without feeling preachy or forceful.

The book is well-edited with no errors. There was nothing to dislike about this delightful book that achieves its goal of providing a funny bedtime story that not only entertains but also imparts valuable lessons and promotes good behavior. This book deserves a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

While this bedtime novella is primarily aimed at 4 to 12 years old, I think a more appropriate age bracket would be 4 to 9-year-olds. However, the humour and creativity embedded in the narrative make it enjoyable for adults and parents reading along with their children.
