Stevie's bed is his favorite place in the world. Here he snuggles, jumps, dreams, hides, and plays. Stevie would like to fill his bed with all his favorite things, but can he? In Stevie Tenderheart Books: WAIT A MINUTE! (An Illustrated Novella), we experience Stevie trying to fill his bed so that he can sleep. However, he is not certain what should stay and what should go and is constantly critiquing even the infinitesimal details.

Stevie Tenderheart Books: WAIT A MINUTE! (An Illustrated Novella) by Steve William Laible is a book specially designed as a bedtime story, although it can be read at any other time. The humor in this book is found even in the small details. The details are meant to entertain as well as educate the children on different things. Some of the educational aspects I found in the book were learning colors, animal behaviors, sounds, and different kinds of foods. The author provided a good background on Stevie, including his pet and the animals he loves.

Steve William Laible used a conversational tone, aiming to involve the listeners in the fun. The funny decisions made by Stevie proved how jolly he was and how excited he was about his bedtime. The 'Wait A Minute!' sections are the best points of realization and hit the readers and listeners with surprise. The story provided clues for what to look for in the pictures, which are well-defined and are credited to Nancy Watson. I loved the real picture of Stevie provided at the beginning of the book.

I rate Stevie Tenderheart Books: WAIT A MINUTE! (An Illustrated Novella) 5 out of 5 stars. This is a colorful book (both words and pictures). I loved the disclaimers guiding me on how to efficiently read the book. The editing was perfect, and there was no aspect that I disliked.

This book is most efficient for the perfect bedtime story, as already mentioned. Children will love the book and look forward to it each time. But as the author says, when they hear "TV time" instead of "Stevie time," that's on you!
