Dr. Marsha and the Case of the Missing Marshmallows and Hotdogs by Dr. Rachel B. Wellner plunges young readers into a delightful mystery with a twist. Dr. Marsha, a resourceful kangaroo, and her quirky animal crew crack the case of a missing Fourth of July feast, blending fun with informative lessons about food choices and healthy living. The story kicks off with a frantic call from Milton Marsupial, cousin to Dr. Marsha, whose Fourth of July picnic has been sabotaged. All the marshmallows and hotdogs—the quintessential barbecue staples—have mysteriously vanished! Dr. Marsha, a detective extraordinaire with a keen eye for clues and a passion for healthy eating, springs into action. Our intrepid detective, armed with her trusty pouch of gadgets, embarks on a whirlwind investigation. She interrogates a cast of colorful suspects, all while keeping the reader entertained with witty dialogue and slapstick humor. Read this book to find out what happened.

The book's plot is captivating and unfolds at a brisk pace, keeping readers engaged as they follow the clues and try to solve the case alongside Dr. Marsha. Dr. Marsha and her animal companions are instantly endearing, each with their own quirks and personalities. The book fosters a sense of camaraderie and encourages empathy towards animals. The vibrant illustrations complement the whimsical tone of the story, bringing the characters and settings to life in a visually engaging way. The story encourages children to see animals as more than just creatures, highlighting their intelligence, emotions, and ability to work together.

The animal characters are fun and memorable, but they lack depth. I was a bit confused by the several animals in the book. I can't tell who is who due to the lack of depth in the character development. That's why I have to read this book twice to finally understand each of the characters. This book is exceptionally well edited. I still rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is a delightful read for young children and people who like children's books.
