Review of Spiker the Jumping Spider Learns about Joy
This story is about a jumping spider and his friend, a cricket, as they discover the meaning of joy, what it means to be joyful, how to stay joyful even when everything seems dull, and also how to bring joy to others. These two friends extend their positivity to others who are facing challenges hindering their happiness. The book has lessons for children about cultivating joy and offering support to those in need.
The book's simple, colorful, and exquisite illustrations, which brought the characters and their activities to life, were what I enjoyed most about it. I am confident that children will enjoy seeing the characters go about their daily activities. I also liked the message conveyed in the book. Crispin [cricket] and Spiker [spider] not only encourage each other to be happy, but they also help anyone they meet who is unhappy about something and are kind to them. Kids will learn that they can feel joy by being kind or doing good deeds for others. The book concludes with a set of questions and corresponding answers that essentially encapsulate the various lessons the characters have absorbed throughout the narrative. This feature is designed to aid children in retaining the information they have acquired from the story. There is also a verse from Galatians 5 that reminds us of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which include joy.
There was nothing I disliked about the book. I found every aspect of it delightful, from the valuable insights gained and vibrant illustrations to the kindness exhibited by the characters, their exemplary behavior, and the engaging questions and answers session at the book's conclusion.
Spiker the Jumping Spider Learns About Joy by J. M. Ashmore deserves 5 out of 5 stars as it was expertly edited and I discovered no grammatical errors. I recommend this book to parents who want to impart lessons about gratitude and finding joy in every situation to their children.
