The book „Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids” surely does convey the main point in a very approachable way. The characters are one dimensional, easy to relate to and easy to like. It is not at all subtle, and that is probably the reason that would make kids understand it with no difficulties. When it comes to books on religious values and traditions, it could potentially cause some issues to pack the text full with complicated methaphores and understatements. That being said, the simplicity definitely works in favor of kids being able to quickly tell right from wrong. The lack of subtlety, however, creates here rather disturbing atmosphere towards the end. Very appealing and easy to visualise descriptions of The Good Way of Being could surely tempt younger audience to look more into their family’s religious beliefs with joy and curiosity. The contrast of this happines with a following promise of absolute terrors, that are bound to happen if readers do not follow certain criteria, may really take from this joyous decision to follow The Savior and make it more of a fear driven compulsion. The religius experience should after all be about the purest happiness found in embracing the Highest Power and feeling Ethernal Love. „Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids” is more about long therm consequences of making a decision, which is not a joyfull decision at all - there is only one choice, but here it is as much motivated by love, as it is by fear, which may create somewhat of an unhealthy way of thinking about the values the book is hoping to convey. On a bright side, „Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids” does provide a vivid and tempting description of Heaved, that could encourage more involvement in the Christian faith and community. On not-as-bright side, the book sure does have a potential to scare sensitive, young audience members into obidience. My question is: is fear, or true admiration and love the right way of teaching?
