Orcas Forever by Marie-Paule Mahoney is an educational book that teaches children about how orcas communicate and what they eat as well as how they live in pods. The illustration is eye catching and will expand a child’s curiosity and imagination. It is a fascinating book as it will teach about the challenges orcas face due to humans which will make children love the animals and want to save them. Furthermore, it allows children to understand an orcas family tree starting from Sequim K12 and Lea K14 being the oldest. It also teaches how the mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers are the leaders of the pods and are the main helpers in the family as they make sure their family have food and are safe. It is a fascinating book as it talks about how they hunt for their prey this can be seen through the illustration and how they do this is by alerting their team and by using their chest flippers to steer and turn. Overall I rate this book a 4/5 as it could be challenging for some children to understand.
