Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids is a good book for parents looking to raise Christian children. This is a story of Emma, a young suburban girl, and her nightly dreams that take her and her younger sister, Bella, to heaven. Every morning following her dreams she debriefs with her parents and Bella, and they cross-check Emma’s dreams with quotes from the Bible for authentication.

I give this story a 3/5. Although edited well and an easy-to-follow storyline, it felt very one dimensional and, for lack of a better term, preachy. It was very predictable: Emma would see something, Daddy would check it with the Bible, and then they would come up with questions that would be answered the next day. Additionally, there was really no plot conflict. Although there was a slight deviation in Emma’s dreams, there is a quick resolution and a forced call to action for parents at the end of the book.

Emma and Bella were very likable characters, however, I found myself irritated by the constant use of the other two character’s names - mommy and daddy. Although I understand the story is to be written for young kids to relate to, hearing mommy and daddy throughout the whole story took my attention away from the focal point of the book.

In terms of content, I was disappointed by the experiences Emma had in heaven. Focusing on the cosmetics of what everyone was wearing felt surface level to me and detracts from the key point of the story.

Overall, I would recommend this book for Christian parents who are looking to teach their children at a young age about heaven, hell, and Christianity. This story is really meant for young children who have basic, high level questions, and less for young kids truly exploring their faith and asking more hard hitting questions regarding Christianity.
