Snatched Up to Heaven for kids is a children's book that narrates the accounts of an 8-year-old girl named Emma who is "snatched up" to Heaven by angels in her dreams several times, with her 6-year old sister Bella. While in Heaven, Emma learns the significance of repenting therefore changing her stance in life.
The book is colour-enriched with drawings that envision Emma's beautiful journey to Heaven. The language of the book is also simple and engaging, making it easier for children to understand and enjoy it.
What I liked more about the book is that it helps young children grow spiritually, which is what every Christian parent wishes for their children. The storytelling approach that the authors used, such as analogy and word pictures, makes it engaging for children to understand God's nature and other virtues, such as forgiveness and kindness. Another strength of the book is it's emphasis on salvation and God's love. Throughout the story, Emma learns the significance of repenting and what she should do to be saved from sin and hell. This lesson has been portrayed in a gentle way for children to learn.
However, the book also depicts a few inherent weaknesses. One of them is focusing on Christianity only. While this might suit some readers, it might limit its fascination with children from other religious backgrounds, such as Muslims and Hindus. Another area for improvement is the need for more diversity in its characters since it does not highlight characters from different cultural and religious backgrounds, limiting its capability to connect with children from other locations.
In conclusion, the book is flawless, with simple and well-articulated sentences. I would give it an honest 4/5 star, as it is well-crafted and engaging for children and offers excellent and valuable lessons about salvation, love, and spiritually. I have deducted one star because of its critique of focusing solely on Christianity. I highly recommend this book to children aged 5-10 who are interested in exploring God's nature.
