Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul is an illustrated book for the little ones at home as a way to study the bible, especially what is described in it as what heaven is. In this story, we follow little Emma who dreams about heaven every night, and the next morning she describes to her parents and little sister her adventures, and what she saw and did in heaven.

What I love about the book are the gorgeous illustrations, they are big, colorful, and appealing to children. The pace is also easy to follow, and it can even be considered a book for parents to read to their children before bed since it teaches important values and focuses on how to be a good person.

On the downside, I think the chapters are a bit long for kids and there are a few concepts that need to be approached with caution. I would love to see more blending between the illustrations and the narrative since most of them are on one page and the text on the other side. A bit more interaction between the text and illustration would be awesome. The authors made a great effort to include bible references; however, I would love to have them a bit more explained for kids and since the dialogue is between parents and kids, sometimes it doesn’t feel as natural as how parents try to explain these concepts to children.

Although this book is well written and edited, I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars because the concept of hell could be a bit scary for small children and I wish they would approach it with more caution and with more empathy. Also, with every dream and description, there is a bible verse attached to it but it does not provide any other explanation and unless the kids are a bit older and studying the bible already, the verses could feel a bit forced into the narrative.

This book is perfect for Christian families with little kids at home. It could be used to study the bible and bring a bit of teaching into something familiar and easy to understand for them and with the guidance of parents, this book could be a good tool.
