Orcas Forever is a colorful and educational children's book by Marie-Paule Mahoney and illustrated by Ginger Triplett. This book includes colorful, well-drawn images which illustrate the story as well as simple vocabulary and grammar. The author narrates the story in a sympathetic manner where the reader can associate themselves with the story. This book emphasizes the situation of the orcas in the current world to help spread awareness about orcas and their endangerment.

In this book, the author tells a story of a pod of orcas living and working together as they travel to meet 2 other neighboring pods. During the story, the author adds many informational facts and details about orcas which make it an educational read as well as a fun-to-read story about orcas. At the end of the story, the author provides an afterword that spreads awareness about the orcas and specifically the Southern Resident Orcas. The afterword gives many facts about the orcas and where they live which connects to the story.

Marie-Paule Mahoney wrote this story in a way that creates an empathetic story that kids can relate to while still spreading awareness about the topic. I like how the afterword which is intended specifically to spread awareness connects to the story of the orcas which is the main part of the story. The tone of the author is educational and informational but at the same time descriptive and condoling.

I have no unpleasant things to say about this book. The story is vivid and descriptive as well as comforting. After considering all angles of this story, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed this story a lot.

This story would best benefit readers over the age of 10 years old as some of the informational aspects are phrased maturely for younger readers. I believe its calm and educational approach makes it a valuable source for discussions and classroom-based environments.
