Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul is a children’s book that focuses on the dreams and experiences of eight-year-old Emma. In this short story, Emma’s parents want to teach her and her sister, Bella, about God, so they pray with them each night and read the Bible together. God answers their prayers by letting Emma visit heaven each night in her dreams and allowing her to share her vivid experiences with her family.

One thing I liked about this book was the way Emma describes heaven. The language used was very warm and inviting. It was also simple enough for the comprehension of a child. I believe it also coupled very well with the beautiful images that were included in the book. I also liked that all the descriptions used to describe heaven were accurate to the scriptures in the Bible and that the authors included their references at the bottoms of the pages.

One thing I didn’t like about Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids was how frightening the imagery was when discussing hell. This book seems to be written for very young children and I am not sure scaring them with that imagery is a good idea at that age. I think the scene where Emma sees hell as a whole is too emotionally charged for the young children that this book is meant for.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 5. Overall, I think it was a really cute story. It was well-written and seemed to be professionally edited. I enjoyed the imagery and the language, as well as the references to Biblical scripture. I only took one point off because I do not think the scene where Jesus shows Emma hell is suitable for younger audiences.

I recommend this book to parents who have young children with whom they want to begin sharing the gospel with. Specifically, I would recommend it to parents with children ages five to ten years old.
